What is Coaching?

To understand what coaching is, let’s perhaps take a look at the acknowledged definition. The International Coaching Federation (ICF), of which I am a trained member, defines coaching as: a partnership with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspired them to maximise their personal and professional potential. Coaching is a client driven process that’s distinct from other service professions, such as counselling, mentoring, training and consulting.

Coaching provides an invaluable space for personal development. It helps you learn how to reach your potential and create lasting results. Coaching holds the space for learning as opposed to teaching. Working with a coach can help you clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and then come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle.

Sessions can be held on-line or face to face.

This article gives some further guidance as to the benefits of coaching. Enjoy!

Lynda coaches for excellence and does not give up until she achieves it. We worked hard together in all our sessions and I always left them feeling I was clearer and more positive about my direction than when we started. Lynda helped me identify and free myself from limiting beliefs, she has provided me with techniques to help me deal so much better with whatever life throws at me and to remain true to my core values in everything I do.

I first started coaching with Lynda while on an international assignment with GE in the Middle East. I had been promoted into a role where I had more contact with senior executive leaders in GE and in several customer organisations, and I wanted support to develop my executive-level communication skills. Through our NLP coaching sessions I became more aware of the use of language by myself and others and learned how to mirror other’s to build rapport faster. I also learned several techniques for managing myself in difficult situations where previously I allowed internal frustrations to become visible to others through my body language and tone. Over time, this led to more self-awareness and also the ability to manage others better during difficult interactions.
Lynda provided invaluable insights into the behavior of others on several occasions that helped me to diffuse situations and reach productive outcomes. Over a period of 5 years, during which time I maintained regular coaching sessions, I was promoted 4 times, eventually moving back to Europe in a global role. The skills that I gained gave me more confidence in my own ability, by identifying and eradicating limiting beliefs, to instill a greater sense of mental toughness within. I was also able to apply the techniques when coaching others and helped many further their own careers.
I am now more attuned to language when talking to people or reading documents, and aware of body language. This mindfulness has helped me to identify patterns of body language that create anxiety by building tension in my body and as a result I can consciously remove these strains to relax better in a variety of settings ranging from presenting in a board room, to shutting down for sleep in the bedroom. My experience with Lynda has been truly transformative in terms of advancing my corporate career, and more recently has been instrumental in giving me the confidence and skills to create my own consultancy business. I see Lynda, and her specific brand of Cognitive Kaizen coaching, as partners for my long-term success.

Lynda has helped me take my business forward faster by helping me understand the ways I work best, tackle my limiting beliefs and fears, and stay laser-focused on my priorities (which she also helped me to identify). She’s given me a range of tools that will help me achieve more in life and business over the long-term.

Lynda is not only incredibly knowledgeable, she really cares about getting you the best and lasting outcomes and helping you become the best version of yourself in a way that feels right for you. She’s also enjoyable to work with. I can’t recommend her enough.

I found Lynda to be extremely professional, creating a welcoming, safe, and relaxing environment. She provided a personalised approach, helping me identify my own specific issues. She led me through the process, at my own pace, giving me enough information to keep me moving, but not too much, so as to not overwhelm. She has helped me understand my challenges better, and put some suitable solutions in place. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Having experienced an extremely traumatic time in my life last year I felt hopeless, lost, worthless, scared, full of despair,

(hah .. I figured it out!!)

I could not see how to get through the darkness. I sought the help of a therapist which helped a lot but my mind still raced, I just could not control my anxiety. The "what if's", "if only's" ad "how can I's" consumed me.

Then Lynda stepped in and I will be forever grateful that she did. Even though we live in different countries Lynda was able to "talk" me through low times. With mindfulness techniques Lynda showed me how to step away from moments of anxiety, how to focus on "the now" and to be present in the moment both physically ad mentally.

Christmas was an exceptionally difficult time emotionally for me and again with Lyndas help I made it through and by mid January I felt like a completely different person. So much stronger and in control of my own emotions.

Lynda shared a meditation video with me that I use at night with my young children to help them get to sleep better and it works a treat every time.

I used to be sceptical about mindfulness but now I cannot recommend it enough and Lynda is amazing at what she does. I have changed so much with Lyndas help from afar, I can only imagine what I would be like if I met her in person.
